Overview

Pre-registration is closed. On site registration will be available.

Emergency medicine involves the delivery of immediate medical care for the treatment of acute and chronic illness and injury. Practitioners providing emergency and urgent care need to be proficient in evaluating and caring for patients presenting with a broad range of acute medical problems. As a result, clinicians are required to have an extensive scope of knowledge and expertise in the evaluation and treatment of acute medical conditions in all age groups.

This conference will focus on providing timely and practical cutting-edge strategies in emergency and urgent care medicine. This interactive course will provide the latest evidence-based information on the evaluation and treatment of acute emergency conditions utilizing didactic presentations, Q&A, cases presentations, hands on skills stations, problem solving and other engaging formats. Learners will have many opportunities to develop new strategies they can immediately incorporate into their practice setting.

The Medical Toxicology Track will be led by national leaders in the field and will cover current efforts to address unintentional poisoning, substance use/abuse and disaster preparedness.

Recognized leaders in the Trauma Track will discuss evidence-based approaches to the care of patients due to gun violence, noncompressible hemorrhaging, anticoagulation reversal, and injuries in the geriatric population.

The Emergency Ultrasound Track is specially designed so that participants will gain hands-on scanning experience in lung, cardiac (basic/advanced), abdomen, deep vein thrombosis, musculoskeletal and procedures (IV access peripheral and central, pericardiocentesis, etc.) This track will also include pathology simulators and pathology case reviews. The participant:instructor ratio will be approximately 3:1 so that there is maximal educational value. The total hands-on scanning time will be approximately 5 hours.
