Gillian McKie, DNP, APN, ACHPN
Dr. McKie started her nursing career in Scotland and worked in Europe before coming to the US in 1985. She has been a nurse for 38 years and a nurse practitioner for the last 15 years. She graduated with a BSN from Seton Hall University in 1990 and obtained her MA in Nursing and certification as an advance practice nurse from NYU in 2002. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Post-Masters Certificate in Palliative Care from The George Washington University in 2015.
She has been fortunate to work in a variety of clinical settings both in the hospital and in primary care. She was given an opportunity to work in Palliative Care several years ago and realized this was an area of special interest and passion. Her doctoral research and professional interests focus on early integration of palliative care in chronic illness. Dr. McKie is certified with an Advanced Certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing (AHCPN) and is certified through the ANCC in Pain Management. She is currently a nurse practitioner with the palliative care team at MMC and at Carol G. Simon Cancer Center.
