Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved pharmacological treatments for opioid use disorder.
  2. Discuss the epidemiology and impact of the opioid crisis in the United States and in New Jersey.
  3. Describe the fundamental model of addiction and the essential elements of its neurobiology.
  4. Assess patients with opioid use disorder for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  5. Describe the benefits and limitations of available treatments and differences between them.
  6. Discuss available community services and supports for persons with opioid use concerns.

Note: This course is specifically provided for New Jersey licensed Physicians, Advance Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants seeking to satisfy federal requirements to obtain the DATA 2000 Waiver.  Physicians who complete this official 4.5 hour live activity (plus an additional 3.5 hours of required internet content) are eligible to apply for a permit to prescribe buprenorphine for the treatment of opioids use disorders from their own offices. This live training offers an additional 2 hours on recovery and support services in New Jersey.

Conference Details:  A complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be served to all participants.  The day of the event, registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Please contact the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at Rutgers UBHC with questions regarding the event by phone at (732) 235-9295 or email at [email protected]
