Course Overview
This activity will discuss the current approved HIV treatment options and the importance of strategies to end the HIV epidemic by 2030. It will also address the COVID-19 vaccines and mental health issues during the pandemic.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, advanced practice nurses, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, psychologists and social workers.

Objectives
  Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Discuss the option of long-acting injectable for HIV treatment with patients and determine the use of Rapid ART when diagnosing new infections
  2. Develop an organizational plan to implement the key strategies of the EHE Plan for America
  3. Recognize the important of resiliency to maintain balance as it relates to personal and professional lives during the pandemic
  4. Explain the evidence-based science of the COVID-19 vaccines and current data on efficacy and safety, age eligibility and challenges of herd immunity

Registration is complimentary but pre-registration is required. Registration can only be accepted through this website.  Registration will close on June 3, 2021.

FOR SOCIAL WORKERS ONLY: You MUST register on two sites. Please register through this site to receive access to the webinar AND click here to register through the Rutgers School of Social Work to be eligible for social work continuing education credit.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and New Jersey Department of Health - Division of HIV, STD and TB Services. Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity is awarded 3.5 contact hours. (60 minute CH)

Pharmacists: The knowledge-based activity qualifies for 3.5 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit.

Nurses and pharmacists should claim only those contact hours actually spent participating in the activity.

Social Workers: This live online or in-person program is approved for social work continuing education hours by the Rutgers School of Social Work, 390 George St., New Brunswick, NJ (848-932-8758) in accordance with the New Jersey Administrative Code 13:44G and recognized by the New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners, the New Jersey Alcohol & Drug Counselor Committee, the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors, and the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for NY licensed social workers #SW-0069. This event is approved to provide 3.5 General CE hours.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for education activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 3.5 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. 

Method of Participation
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are expected to register for and participate in the program, and complete the online evaluation form at the conclusion of the activity. A CE certificate will be emailed to participants upon completion of the online evaluation survey.

For Social Workers Only: In addition to registering through this website, social workers must register here for social work credit.

For Pharmacists Only: NABP e-Profile ID and date of birth must be entered in your MyCE Profile. Rutgers cannot report your credit without this information. CPE credit will be processed after the program evaluations has closed to participants, which will be three to four weeks after the activity date.
