Overview
The 2021 AACN Essentials consists of 10 domains articulated by competencies and sub-competencies for each domain, creating a scaffold for curriculum development. This presentation will discuss step by step processes that can be taken to move faculty colleagues toward a competency-based curriculum aligned with the 2021 Essentials. Approaches for initiating assignments, simulations, and assessments that measure competence will be demonstrated. Specific teaching strategies to engage learners in using a competency-based model and rubrics for evaluation will be showcased.
