Part 2 of 2 part activity (home study and January 11, 2024 in-person)
for 9.0 contact hours total.  Live, In-Person, hands-on session.

New Jersey state law requires adherence to methods set forth in USP chapters for safe and legal compounding practices.
Pharmacy professionals involved in compounding sterile products must learn about updates to USP recommendations to comply with state law on various tasks associated with compounding, including beyond-use dating; cleaning and disinfection; and clean room design through hands on experience.

Objectives
 
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

 


  1. Describe the goals of and recent updates to USP <797>.
  2. Accurately assign beyond use dating to prepared sterile products in compliance with updated regulations.
  3. Interpret clean room certification testing and develop an action plan for out-of-range paramaters.
  4. Assess compatibility of IV medications during compounding using appropriate references.
  5. Perform donning and doffing of PPE in the appropriate sequence.
  6. Summarize best practices for cleaning a primary engineering control (PEC) prior to and during compounding activities.
  7. Demonstrate the proper placement and manipulation of items in a laminar air flow hood to prevent blockage of first air.
  8. Display appropriate aseptic technique when preparing a sterile product.

Registration
Method of Participation: In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credit, participants must pay the online registration fee of $580 under "Part 1 of 2:  Best Practices for Sterile Compounding - A Certificate Program";  pay and complete part 1 home study by reviewing the reading material and completing the test before January 9, 2024.  Once completed, you will be ready to arrive in-person on January 11, 2023 before 8:00am, Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, 160 Frelinghuysen Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854 for the full day course.  Please utilize free vehicle registration to park in lots 55, or 58B.  Here is parking link;  if you do not register vehicle, we cannot forgive the citation, you will have to pay it:

Once you arrive you will come to room 288 (2nd floor).  Continental breakfast and boxed lunch will be supplied.  Your attendance will be taken which will open up the mandatory online final test and evaluation before end-of-day January 11th.
Participants are required to attend/complete 100% of the program (home study, then live, in-person), complete the reading material, tests and online evaluation form at the conclusion of the activity. A credit certification will be available for download to participants upon completion of the online evaluation survey.
