Overview

Pre-registration is now closed. On site registration will be available.

This inaugural Stroke and Neurocritical Care Symposium is a two-day CME/CE course designed to provide physicians and allied healthcare professionals with a comprehensive overview of the current and emerging cutting-edge management strategies for cerebrovascular diseases and neurocritical care delivered by internationally renowned clinicians and researchers.

The first day is a half day program dedicated to neuroscience, emergency and critical care nursing education, paralleled with mini-fellowship workshops in stroke, neurocritical care and neuro-intervention. The second day is a full day program covering topics in stroke, neurovascular surgery, neuro-intervention, and neurocritical care. The day will end with exciting debates presented by experts in the field.

Although the field has brought advances toward improving outcomes for patients who are neurocritically ill, in many instances, especially functional outcomes, remain poor. Emphasis will be on improving care for the primary neurocritical condition, better recognition, prevention, and correction of medical complications and secondary brain injury. Examination of health care delivery, management strategies, and identification of individual thresholds by means of advanced technology will all play important roles. Neurocritical care and research is a multidisciplinary and multiprofessional effort, and neurointensivists are tasked to lead this effort to further advance the field.

Course Directors’ Message
Welcome to our inaugural Stroke and Neurocritical Care: Advanced Managements of Neurological and Neurosurgical Emergencies and Critical Care CME/CE symposium.

Since the time of Galen, strokes have been a medical focus with an enormous cost in terms of disability and outcomes. With the new trials and the improvements in endovascular techniques, as well as the addition of the neuro ICU, the prognosis has improved dramatically. This is our inaugural conference featuring authorities in the field of vascular and critical care neurology as well as cerebrovascular neurosurgery and endovascular surgery.

Our first day is full of various exciting sessions: a dedicated neuroscience and critical care nursing symposium and neurocritical care core curriculums as well as hands-on workshops/mini-fellowships led by Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School leaders and programs directors. Health care providers who would like a refresher course on neurocritical care will find a high yield nursing symposium and core curriculums. Those interested in receiving a mini-fellowship in stroke, neurocritical care and neuro-intervention, we’ve got you covered.

Our second day is packed with topics which will go over the past, present and future of herapeutic options for cerebrovascular diseases and neurological critical care, taught by internationally renowned speakers; most of whom were the lead authors of the latest American Heart and American Stroke Associations’ Guidelines. We plan to utilize an audience response system for more engaging, interactive experience. We will end with educationally fruitful medical crossfire debated by experts and hear their opinions on the important issues with paucity of data from randomized controlled trials.

On behalf of the 9,000 physicians and the 11 acute-care hospitals of RWJBarnabas Health, we invite you to join us for this national colloquium on Stroke and Neurocritical Care!

Sincerely
