Overview
Vaccines are among the greatest public health success stories of the modern era, saving millions from previously life-threatening and disabling communicable diseases.  Pharmacists play an integral role in promoting public health as immunizers and educators to the public and
healthcare community.  New data arises each year which promotes updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on immunization strategies among all age groups.  This activity seeks to educate pharmacists on new recommendations for COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and pneumococcal vaccination among multiple patient populations. 
Pharmacy learners completing this activity will be better prepared to deliver informed, effective, and equitable immunization recommendations and services for adult patients.

Objectives
  Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

 


  1. Review literature on newly available vaccines for influenza and RSV.
  2. Recognize key updates to adult immunization schedules.
  3. Identify appropriate patient populations who may benefit from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza, COVID-19, and pneumococcal vaccines.
  4. Describe the importance of updated vaccination recommendations given a patient case.
  5. Recall adverse reactions, precautions, and contraindications to each vaccine.
  6. Distinguish credible and reputable sources of immunization information available to pharmacists and the public.

Registration
Virtual:  All Registrants will receive the presentation link the DAY BEFORE the virtual event.  Only registrants will receive the  link and be able to access the mandatory evaluation for credit.  Evaluation is due to be completed online NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 12, 2025.

Accreditation and Credit Designation

In support of improving patient care, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
