Overview

This course is designed to help prepare nurse educators to take the Certified Nurse Educator® (CNE) examination. The course focuses on the competencies that are necessary for a nurse educator to obtain national recognition through certification. Participants will review the specialized core knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to be an effective educator, including the nurse educator’s roles and responsibilities for creating a learning environment. Facilitation of student learning and assessment of outcomes are presented. Participants examine the components of the CNE test blueprint and will have begun a process of self-assessment and planning for their own success on the exam.


Target Audience
Specialties - General Nursing

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Explore major content areas included in the CNE® Test Blueprint, including a readiness self-assessment.
  2. Discuss teaching theories and related strategies for effective learning.
  3. Examine factors associated with facilitating student success.
  4. Explain the teaching, curriculum, and evaluation strategies associated with many different educational theories and levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy.
  5. Discuss change theories and the role of the nurse education leader.
  6. Pursue Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in the Academic Nurse Educator role, including consideration of scholarship and functioning in the institutional environment.
  7. Create a plan for success on the CNE exam, considering individual factors that will be important for success.

This is an in-person, complimentary event.

Location: Room 201 in Ackerson Hall, Newark
