Overview
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability, requiring rapid, coordinated, and evidence-based interventions. Nurses, advanced practice nurses, and physician associates are at the forefront of stroke care, playing vital roles in patient triage, acute management, post-stroke rehabilitation, and caregiver support. However, significant knowledge and competency gaps persist in areas such as stroke triage tools, blood pressure management in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), stroke mimics, aspiration pneumonia prevention, palliative care integration, and post-stroke discharge planning. Join us for this cutting-edge CME program designed to close these gaps and empower frontline providers with the latest advancements and best practices in stroke care.

This interactive and case-based program will provide essential updates on stroke triage and localization, dysphagia screening, neuroendovascular complication management, and strategies for reducing post-stroke morbidity. Attendees will gain practical insights into palliative care discussions, dizziness assessment in posterior strokes, and evidence-based approaches to caregiver assessment and discharge planning. Led by leading stroke specialists and multidisciplinary experts, this program will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to enhance stroke patient outcomes, optimize care transitions, and improve adherence to current stroke management guidelines. Don’t miss this opportunity to advance your expertise and make a meaningful impact on stroke care in your practice!

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Explore the interplay between bio-psycho-social-spiritual factors and decision-making in palliative care, highlighting religious and cultural perspectives such as the "honor thy parent" commandment.
  2. Examine the role of Narrative Medicine in addressing grief and loss, utilizing creative practices to enhance empathy, connection, and healing for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
  3. Analyze the clinical, ethical, and legal dimensions of Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) and its impact on patients, loved ones, and healthcare providers.
  4. Identify strategies to overcome barriers and opportunities in implementing multidisciplinary, patient-centered approaches to end-of-life care.
  5. Analyze the impact of social determinants of health on stroke incidence and recovery and develop strategies to promote equitable care.
  6. Integrate current recommendations for secondary stroke prevention, including pharmacologic therapies, lifestyle modifications, and patient education, into clinical practice.
  7. Demonstrate effective patient and caregiver education techniques to enhance adherence to secondary prevention measures and improve long-term outcomes.
  8. Assess emerging stroke treatments, including novel pharmacologic therapies, interventional approaches, and the application of artificial intelligence in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  9. Critically evaluate case studies to enhance clinical decision-making skills in acute stroke management and post-stroke care.
  10. Recognize and manage post-stroke complications through early intervention, rehabilitation planning, and interprofessional coordination.
