Top Gun School for Assisted Living Nurses

There is currently a lack of knowledge and competency within the nursing industry due to the increasing acuity of the frail elderly cared for in skilled nursing facilities, post-acute care and assisted living communities.  The intentions of the Top Gun course are to increase the knowledge and skill set.

1. • Integrate interventions to prevent decline in physical and mental status of residents living in assisted living communities.
2. • Implement education and training to staff to embrace person centered care, to listen to the wishes of residents and to increase resident satisfaction and quality of life.
3. • Implement proper infection prevention and control standards of practice and correctly utilize standard and transmission-based precautions.
4. • Practice accurate documentation, care planning and early intervention risk management resolution strategies and show other employees to do the same
5. • Choose the proper actions that can be taken to reduce or eliminate conflict which could impact team morale.
