Overview

The goal of the 2026 HIV Clinical Update is to engage providers and prescribers from around the state of NJ to discuss the current research in treatment, strategies to engage patients in conversation about advanced care, describe the benefits of street medicine programs in NJ and evaluate different approaches to engagement and re- engagement of patients into HIV Care.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:


  1. Analyze HIV epidemiological trends and reporting in New Jersey and the progress towards ending the HIV epidemic.
  2. Summarize new therapies in HIV treatment and prevention introduced at the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI 2026).
  3. Evaluate individual the patient needs to initiate conversations about developing advanced care plans for people aging with HIV.
  4. Explain the methodology of street medicine programs and mobile clinics and efforts ton reach and sustain care for marginalized populations.
  5. Describe practices for initial engagement of patients into HIV care and identify methods for re-engaging populations lost to care.

In support of improving patient care, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and NJDOH - Division of Syndemic and Substance Use Services is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
