Overview

Advances in neurotology are rapidly transforming the diagnosis and management of disorders affecting hearing, balance, and the lateral skull base. From expanded candidacy for cochlear implantation to innovations in minimally invasive and endoscopic ear surgery, clinicians are expected to integrate evolving evidence and technologies into practice while managing increasingly complex patient presentations. However, variability persists in diagnostic approaches, timely referral for advanced interventions, and coordination of multidisciplinary care.

Updates in Neurotology is a comprehensive, case-based educational program designed to equip otolaryngologists, advanced practice providers, and nurses with the latest evidence, clinical strategies, and procedural insights in neurotologic care. This activity will address key gaps in the evaluation and management of hearing loss, vestibular disorders, tinnitus, and skull base pathology, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy, optimizing patient selection for implantable hearing technologies, and enhancing adoption of advanced surgical techniques.

Through interactive discussions, expert-led sessions, and real-world case studies, participants will gain practical tools to improve clinical decision-making, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and deliver patient-centered care aligned with current guidelines and emerging best practices. By translating cutting-edge research into actionable strategies, this program aims to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with complex neurotologic conditions.

Activity Director

Kevin Wong, MD
Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ

Planning Committee

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Apply evidence-based diagnostic algorithms incorporating audiologic, vestibular, and imaging modalities to evaluate patients with neurotologic symptoms.
  2. Evaluate candidacy and outcomes for cochlear implants, bone conduction devices, and emerging hearing technologies in diverse patient populations
  3. Integrate advanced surgical techniques, including endoscopic and minimally invasive approaches, into clinical practice where appropriate.
  4. Develop multidisciplinary management plans for patients with complex neurotologic conditions, including vestibular schwannoma and autoimmune inner ear disease.
  5. Differentiate and manage vestibular disorders using current evidence-based strategies to improve patient-reported outcomes.
  6. Incorporate emerging technologies and innovations, including virtual and simulation tools, into clinical practice and education
