Overview

This multidisciplinary activity is designed to improve the knowledge, competence, and clinical performance of healthcare professionals responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular disease. The symposium addresses significant professional practice gaps resulting from the rapidly evolving cardiovascular therapeutic landscape, increasing complexity of clinical decision-making, expanding pharmacologic and device-based treatment options, advances in cardiovascular imaging, structural heart interventions, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure management, preventive cardiology, and multidisciplinary cardiovascular care.

Through nationally recognized faculty, evidence-based presentations, interactive case discussions, panel discussions, and multidisciplinary collaboration, participants will examine current clinical guidelines, landmark clinical trials, emerging technologies, and practical implementation strategies that improve the delivery of high-quality cardiovascular care.

Educational content emphasizes translation of new evidence into everyday clinical practice and is specifically designed to improve clinician competence, strengthen evidence-based decision-making, reduce unwarranted practice variation, and improve patient outcomes across the continuum of cardiovascular disease.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, internists, residents, fellows, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, cardiac nurses, cardiovascular technologists, cardiovascular program administrators, and researchers.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Implement current evidence-based guideline-directed medical therapy, including contemporary pharmacologic, device-based, and multidisciplinary treatment strategies, to optimize outcomes for patients across the spectrum of heart failure.
  2. Evaluate appropriate candidates for transcatheter and surgical structural heart interventions by integrating current evidence, multimodality imaging, heart team collaboration, and individualized patient risk assessment.
  3. Apply advances in coronary physiology, intravascular imaging, calcium modification technologies, and revascularization strategies to improve procedural planning and clinical decision-making in patients with complex coronary artery disease.
  4. Incorporate contemporary rhythm management strategies, including catheter ablation, conduction system pacing, leadless pacing technologies, remote monitoring, and emerging artificial intelligence applications into clinical practice.
  5. Recognize sex-specific cardiovascular disease presentations and implement evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic strategies that improve outcomes for women with cardiovascular disease.
  6. Integrate contemporary preventive cardiology strategies, including obesity management, lipid-lowering therapies, GLP-1 receptor agonists, cardiovascular risk assessment, and digital health tools into comprehensive patient care.
  7. Identify patients who may benefit from advanced heart failure therapies, including mechanical circulatory support, transplantation, and multidisciplinary referral, to facilitate timely intervention.
  8. Select evidence-based endovascular and surgical treatment strategies for patients with peripheral arterial and aortic disease using current guideline recommendations and contemporary procedural techniques.
  9. Differentiate the appropriate use of echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, PET imaging, nuclear imaging, and artificial intelligence-assisted technologies to improve diagnostic accuracy and individualized cardiovascular care.
  10. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary cardiovascular teams to improve care coordination, shared decision-making, implementation of evidence-based therapies, and patient-centered cardiovascular care.
