This is hosted as a virtual WebEx.  You will receive an invite a couple days before the training date.  This will be followed by instructions.  

This course provides new staff at UBHC the Blue Card as well as Workplace Violent Prevention.  Staff that are already CPI certified but more then 3 months past due on their CPI blue card refresher must attend the CPI Initial training over again.  Please note that UBHC staff must complete this training annually by signing up for the CPI refresher before their expiration date.   

This program provides staff knowledge and understanding of the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® models, principles, and techniques. Designed for staff that encounter verbally disruptive and physically aggressive behavior and may need to expand on verbal intervention practice.  Suitable for staff that may not be authorized to perform physical interventions.

This course also provides knowledge of Workplace Violence Prevention including recognizing workplace violence and how to report it.  

Participants successfully completing the training will receive an updated CPI Blue Card™


Objectives
CPI Staff Competencies:

  1. Identify behavior that indicates an escalation toward aggressive and violent behavior and take appropriate measures to avoid, decelerate, and/or de-escalate crisis situations.
  2. Assess the level of risk associated with crisis behavior and make appropriate decisions related to the management of such risks.
  3. Use suitable and acceptable physical interventions to reduce or manage risk behavior.
  4. Identify the impact of crisis events and describe Postvention responses that can be used for personal and organizational support and learning.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of what workplace violence looks like and how to report it.

Accreditation and Credit Designation
This program does not offer CMEs or CEUs.  All participants will received a general certificate of attendance after completing the evaluation.
