Date & Location
Thursday, November 3, 2022, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Rutgers NJMS, 185 South Orange Avenue, MSB B-552, Newark, NJ

Objectives
Participants will be able to critically assess the existing scientific evidence of the consequences of lack of treatment for OUD in the age of fentanyl. We hope that they will come out of our day-long conference with greater confidence on how to take care of our patients as more potent opioids "flood" the illicit drug supply.

  1. Describe the neurobiological understanding of substance use disorders in 2022
  2. Explain the pharmacology of medications for opioid use disorder
  3. Provide rationale for buprenorphine as the superior choice in treatment for opioid use disorder in the age of fentanyl
  4. Explore strategies to approach the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  5. Recommend how to speak with patients about aberrant drug screening results
  6. Brainstorm strategies for achieving and maintaining recovery in those with SUD
