This symposium will bring together the best and brightest leaders and practitioners in neonatal care. The information presented will include the latest research on breast milk, patient bias, neonatal HPP, genetic testing, and palliative care.


Target Audience
Specialties - Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Pediatrics
Professions - Medical Resident, Nurse Practitioner, Physician, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, Social Worker

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Identify when genetic tests are indicated based on clinical presentation of the neonate
  2. Recognize when to consider hypophosphatasia (HPP) as a cause of failure to thrive
  3. Recite complications associated with HPP
  4. Identify pitfalls of breast milk, formula and donor milk
  5. Define key terms of patient bias
  6. Apply evidence-based patient bias reduction strategies
  7. Review the history, value and indications for palliative care
  8. Design a plan to implement palliative care in the NICU

$25 - includes program materials and continuing education credits

Your registration will not be confirmed and you will be unable to receive continuing education credit until payment is received by Rutgers. If payment is not received in time for the conference, Rutgers will cancel your registration.

Accreditation and Credit Designation

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity is awarded 5.5 contact hours. (60 minute CH) Nurses should only claim those contact hours actually spent participating in the activity.

Method of Participation
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are expected to attend the program and complete the online evaluation form at the conclusion of the activity. An email will be sent to all participants no later than Friday, June 18, 2021 with instructions for accessing the evaluation. A CE certificate will be emailed to participants upon completion of the online evaluation.
