CCE: The Basics of Providing Care to LGBTQIA+ Individuals

This course will provide an overview of best care practices for the  interprofessional healthcare team working with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer community to create a welcoming care environment.

1. Identify awareness of one's own beliefs, biases and attitudes regarding LGBTQIA+ populations seeking care.
2. Describe terms for gender and sexual identity in the lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer communities that communicate respect and dignity.
3. Outline communication strategies to provide culturally validating treatment of the lesbian, lesbian bisexual and transgender and queer communities.

Psychologists: Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care and RBHS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care and RBHS maintains responsibility for the program and its content. (2.75 CE Credits). 

Certified Counselors:  Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6198.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care is solely responsible for all aspects of the program. (2.75 Clock Hours)
