Overview
Pharmacists play a critical role in ensuring widespread and safe vaccine administration, necessitating on-going education and training in this dynamic practice area.  Amidst the evolving landscape of immunization products and recommendations, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine updates, other key updates to pediatric immunization
schedules, and the vaccine development pipeline, pharmacists require comprehensive training encompassing diverse areas related to immunization.  This continuing pharmacy education activity will provide a holistic educational approach that covers these facets in order to empower pharmacists providing pediatric immunization services in delivering informed, effective, and equitable immunization services and patient care for this population.

Objectives
  Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

 


  1. Recognize key updates to pediatric immunization schedules.
  2. Identify the appropriate pediatric immunizations for each age and comorbidity.
  3. Explore the vaccine development pipeline including the status of novel vaccines and technologies.
  4. Appraise the importance of the respiratory syncytial virus immunization in the context of a patient case.
  5. Recall adverse reactions, precautions, and contraindications for each vaccine.
  6. Distinguish reputable resources available to pharmacists for immunization information.
