Overview
The Rutgers Critical Care Symposium serves multiple purposes, aiming to create a collaborative environment among healthcare professionals specializing in critical care. Critical care practitioners encounter various disease states and related pharmacotherapies in their daily practice. However, staying up to date with research and evolving guidelines that impact patient care can be challenging. This symposium provides a platform for knowledge exchange where cutting-edge research, advancements, and best practices are shared to enhance patient care. Additionally, the platform hopes to facilitate networking and interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare professionals. The symposium will cover several important topics, including the latest updates on managing advanced cardiogenic shock, alternative dosing strategies for thrombolytics for managing patients with pulmonary embolism (PE), methods for preventing and managing iatrogenic withdrawal syndromes in the ICU, a panel discussion on provider-to-patient ratios across different professions and controversies surrounding artificial intelligence in critical illness and its impact on patient care.

Target Audience
Specialties - Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care Pharmacy, Other Clinical
Professions - Nurse Anesthetist, Nurse Practitioner, Pharmacist, Physician, Registered Nurse

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  2. Review the evolving dosing strategies of thrombolytics for the management of pulmonary embolism (PE).
  3. Develop evidence-based pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment plans for an advanced cardiogenic shock.
  4. Summarize the current challenges to implementing opitimal provider to patient ratios for ICU patients.
