Overview

The MAP Forward: Raising the Bar for Maternal Health Equity convening will provide actionable steps, examples, and resources for stakeholders committed to driving change together in maternal health. The convening will outline actions to reduce disparities and advance equitable care, experiences, and outcomes through an informative keynote presentation, interactive breakout sessions with practical strategies to improve maternal health equity across New Jersey.


Target Audience
Specialties - Maternal and Fetal Medicine
Professions - Nurse Practitioner, Other Healthcare Professional, Patient, Physician, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, Social Worker

Objectives

As a result of this activity, learners will be able to create and contribute to a trusting environment, communicate more effectively, engage community voices for actionable change, and promote power sharing with patients and communities. Learners will enhance the way they deliver care and engage with patients, improve patient experiences and outcomes, and strengthen community partnerships.


  1. Construct interpersonal advocacy strategies to advance change in health care through qualitative approaches such as storytelling, media advocacy, and fostering collaborative partnerships.
  2. Apply equity-focused strategies to improve maternal health care, outcomes, and experiences.
  3. Build capacity to develop meaningful stakeholder relationships, amplifying community voice and maximizing interprofessional and community trust-building.

Accreditation and Credit Designation

In support of improving patient care, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

Method of Participation

In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credit, participants are required to check in at registration, attend the program, and complete the online evaluation form at the conclusion of the activity. A letter certifying attendance and credit certification will be emailed to participants upon completion of the online evaluation survey.
