Overview

The purpose of this activity is to strengthen clinicians’ ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients across diverse backgrounds and experiences. The session will provide practical strategies for incorporating person-centered communication, cultural humility, awareness of implicit bias, and trauma-informed approaches into clinical practice, with the goal of building patient trust, improving engagement, and supporting meaningful shared decision-making. 


Objectives
 
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

 


  1. Apply communication techniques that foster respectful, person-centered care.
  2. Recognize how implicit bias, cultural humility, and trauma-informed approaches influence patient interactions.
  3. Incorporate communication strategies that improve patient trust, engagement, and shared decision-making.
