Overview

Substantial advancements have been made in HIV biomedical interventions. However, healthcare facilities continue to miss opportunities to diagnose people with HIV (PWH) early, allowing them to receive the maximum benefit from antiretroviral therapy (ART), pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and to live healthy lives. Many individuals who are unaware of their HIV status have access to healthcare but do not receive an HIV test until they become symptomatic, which can have a detrimental impact on their immune system.

The purpose of this activity is to emphasize the importance of routine HIV testing, rapid initiation of ART, and the use of preventive therapies to reduce the number of new HIV infections in New Jersey.
